The Green Room
The Green Room
About
The Green Room is my temporary personal recording studio set up in the garage behind my house. It's a fantastic space to make music. I do all of my mixing and almost all my overdubs here. It can comfortably accommodate bands of 1-4 people and is stocked with a large number of guitars, bass's, amplifiers, keyboards, synthesizers, sound makers and more. It’s a “one room“ studio with a small vocal booth where everything is always hooked up and ready to go making for a seamlessly creative environment.
The garage is actually a coach house with a second story which has plans of becoming my purpose built, long-term recording studio. That has proved to be a lengthy process, but at some point the studio will move upstairs to its final destination.
I always use other studios to record drums and “live band/ensemble tracking“ situations. When that happens in Chicago, it’s most often at Electrical Audio but there are plenty of other studios I also love working at. A few of my other favorite studios outside of Chicago that I’ve worked at are Sunset Sound, The Sonic Ranch and Pachyderm Studios.
Location + Environment
The Green Room is located in the City of Evanston, roughly 10 minutes north of Chicago. Evanston is known for its proximity to Lake Michigan, historic homes, great restaurants, walkability, and beautiful parks. I like to think that Evanston offers the best of the city minus the traffic although I’m sure Chicagoans (including a younger me) might disagree, maybe.
